SEO content for home service companies

Quick summary: SEO content for a home service company is the set of pages that match what homeowners type: one page per job, a page for each town that matters, cost pages for the big replacements, and short answers to the questions your office hears every day. The pages only work when they carry details from your own jobs. We plan them from search data, draft with AI help, edit and fact-check by hand, and publish nothing until you approve it.

Which page types does a home service company need?

Page typeWhat it is forHome service example
Service pageOne job, written to rank and to book"Sewer line replacement", with signs, methods, what moves the price and how long the yard is torn up
Cost pageAnswers the price search honestly"What does a panel upgrade cost?", with a range and the four things that change it
Area pageOne town, with proof you work thereJobs done in that town, housing age, water hardness, the permit office you deal with
FAQ blockShort answers a search engine or AI tool can quote"How often should a furnace be serviced?" answered in one sentence, then detail

A multi-trade company needs these for each trade. The plumbing side and the electrical side do not share keywords, so they do not share pages. How the pages sit in folders is covered on the SEO page.

These are national numbers. Your page competes for the local share of them, and for the many longer versions that include a town name. The cost pages do double duty: they rank for the price search, and your office can send the link to every caller who asks "roughly how much".

One thing a multi-trade company can write that a single-trade company cannot is the page where two trades meet. A whole-house generator needs an electrician and a gas line. A heat pump water heater needs a plumber and often a new circuit. An EV charger may need a panel upgrade first. A page that explains the whole job, done by one crew on one invoice, is a page your single-trade competitors have no way to match.

What do you have to supply?

The draft is our job. The details that make it yours are not something we can invent, and we will not try. For each page we ask for about 10 minutes of your time and some of the following:

  • Recent jobs. Two or three real ones: the town, the house, what was wrong, what you did. No customer names.
  • Your price logic. The range you quote on the phone and what pushes a job to the top of it.
  • Questions your office hears. The ones your dispatcher answers ten times a week.
  • Credentials. License and registration numbers, insurance, manufacturer dealer status, certifications your techs hold.
  • Brands and equipment. What you install and what you will not.
  • Photos. Trucks, techs, finished work, before and after. Phone photos are fine.
  • Your policies. Warranty terms, after-hours fees, how far you drive.

A page about water heater replacement that mentions the low-clearance basements in the older part of your town, and what that does to the install, is a page nobody else can copy.

How does review and approval work?

  1. Topic. We pick the page from search demand, competitor gaps and your priorities, and you sign off.
  2. Your input. You answer a few questions about real jobs.
  3. Draft. AI helps with research and the first draft.
  4. Edit. A person edits and fact-checks, then adds the title tag, meta description, internal links and schema.
  5. Approval. You review and ask for changes. For a trade company this is where someone who has done the job checks that the page is technically right and does not tell a homeowner to do something unsafe.
  6. Publish. The page goes live and is submitted for indexing.

Core service pages run 800 to 1,000 words. Area pages are shorter. SEO content takes 3 to 6 months for steady gains.

Six steps of how a home service page is made from topic to publish

What gets a home service page ignored?

  • Town-swapped pages. "Plumber in [town]" copied 40 times with the name changed. Google treats near-identical pages as one and ignores the rest.
  • Trade-swapped pages. The multi-trade version of the same mistake: one template with "plumbing" replaced by "electrical".
  • Thin pages. Two paragraphs and a phone number for a job that costs thousands.
  • Unsupported claims. "Best in the county", "lowest prices", or a license you cannot show. Homeowners do not believe them and some break advertising rules.
  • Do-it-yourself advice on dangerous work. A page that walks a homeowner through gas or panel work is a liability, and it is not what the search is asking for. Explain what is wrong and when to call.

How is content sold?

Content is not sold on its own. It comes with the AEO | GEO bundle, which includes two pieces a month, and with the full agency stack. It can also be added case by case once a strategy is in place. A page with no working Business Profile, no links and a slow site behind it rarely ranks. The details are on the SEO content service page and the packages page.

Related pages: the home service companies hub, local SEO and AEO | GEO for home service companies. Each trade has its own topic list: plumbers, HVAC companies, electricians and roofers. To outline an area page yourself, use the service area page template.

Common questions about SEO content for home service companies

Can we buy a set of pages without the rest?

No. Content comes with the AEO | GEO bundle and the full agency stack, or case by case once a strategy is in place.

Do you use AI to write the pages?

Yes, for research and first drafts. A person edits and fact-checks every page, and you approve it before it goes live. Facts about your jobs, prices and credentials come from you.

Should each trade have its own pages?

Yes. Plumbing, HVAC, electrical and roofing searches do not overlap, so one page cannot rank for all of them. Each trade gets its own hub and its own job pages.

How many area pages should we have?

One for each town you can write something true and specific about. If you have done no jobs in a town and have nothing local to say, the page is not ready to write.

Do we have to publish prices?

No, but cost pages need a range to be useful. A range with the factors that move it answers the search without committing you to a quote.

Who owns the pages?

You do. The pages stay on your site if we stop working together.
